 Compositing Capstone Assignment

Zbrush Core Capstone Assignment

This was an awesome project to end my last semester with! It actually went pretty smoothly for me and I had a lot of fun sculpting my humanoid bust in Nomad Sculpt.
I decided to create a more classic Roman style sculpt because I thought the hair would be really good for the non-symmetrical aspect. I think it  may lack some expressiveness but that also just comes with the more classic serious look.
Here is what my work space looked like in Nomad;

After I was happy with how he turned out, I popped him into the Flipped Normals Scene in Maya. This process went smoothly and I was able to find lighting that I liked. Here are the two renders I came up with in Arnold

One thing that did bug me about the render was the cheeks, I didn't notice the roughness until after rendering but I didn't feel like it looked too out of place to go back and change. Overall pretty happy with the turnout of this piece and really happy I was able to take this class. It has been one of my favorite classes yet! I will definitely be sculpting in Nomad just for fun in the future.

Here is the final 360 video too;

DIY Green/Blue Screen

For this assignment I decided to film my friend stealing a beer coming out of my computer screen. I got the idea from the TV example in the YouTube tutorial provided. I had a limited sized green sheet, so this worked better for that.
This actually turned out to be harder than I expected, I ran into problems with camera positioning, so it actually looked like the beer can was sitting on the desk. Poor lighting in my room also made it harder to key out the green screen in After effects.
I was actually able to use my friends nice camera and tripod though so that did make things smoother.

Picture above shows the wrong angle I started out shooting, when I brought it into After Effects things didn't line up at all. It is also shows my janky green sheet set up, all the wrinkles were fun to deal with. Also the glass bottle didn't work out too well so I switched to a can.

This is showing the second shot of my computer and friend. I then masked the video of him grabbing the bottle and positioned it in the second video to fit on my computer screen.

This is how it looked by the end of editing

and here is the final video,
